Come Christmas season have you ever noticed how people’s attitudes change? There seem to be more smiles, more cheery greetings, even from people you don’t know. Folks are more willing to share for for just a moment seem to really care. Folks become more neighborly. I wonder why? Why does it take Christmas to get us to behave as we should all year toward each other; and then it seems the day after Christmas the world goes back to the way it was before.
Christmas is a special time of year
when seems all around the world
there is more cheer,
more kindness, reaching out,
a lot more love,
celebrating hope sent from above.
I wish everyday was Christmas
all the year;
it’s more peaceful, seems to me,
hearts brim full with cheer.
I wish everyday was Christmas
as we celebrate our friendships,
acknowledge our success,
we celebrate our family
and homes so very blest.
We celebrate our God,
in whom is our trust;
the God of our salvation
who gave His all for us
and for just a moment
the world doesn’t seem
quite such a mess,
for just a few brief moments,
it seems when it’s Christmas
as we remember God’s own special gift
sent down from Heaven to each of us,
the love that is Christmas.
We find the faith and hope
we need to live
and in our hearts
we find the strength
to reach out and to forgive,
we find the courage and desire
we need to keep moving on,
for a day, for just a moment
as the season of Christmas dawns.
We lay aside our burdens
and lay aside our fears.
I wish everyday was Christmas,
Christmas everyday all year.
