With Me.

Source

I sit upon this corner of mine
I sit and watch the sands of time
I hear raindrops sway and fall
I listen anticipating your call

I take a trip to the city with you
I watch skyscrapers melt into the evening blue
I wonder when the stars will start to shine
I know they’ll illuminate any blessings you can find

I like to walk slowly savoring the day
I like to feel the cool gale in the month of May
I sometimes sing and hum a familiar melody
I enjoy napping beneath a lush palm tree

I open books with words of wisdom
I seek out any opportunity for carefree fun
I keep my eyes peeled when I see passing butterflies
I stay up all night just to watch the sunrise

I feel a serene peaceful bliss
I feel it when I remember the softness of your kiss
I sip my cup of chamomile tea -
I wish, you were here sharing it with me

    Hi, Liane, how are you?
This is a nice reminder of warm days past and appreciating warm days present, or maybe, remembering a really good first date, in anticipation of another? It seems like you took the memory with you as you walked. And I like the idea of a soothing comfort toward the end, ’cause it’s like you chose to remember a warm memory instead of allow the chill of May to affect you, like you chose to allow the imbibing of hot chamomile to infuse you with warmth to keep at bay other colder thoughts. This poem is as good, clear, warm, and fragrant as the tea you’re drinking. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing.

  • Timothy Drayton Russell on Dec 16, 2008

Is it loneliness or desire sparked by longing for the sharing of self w/ another? One already in love w/ or the wish to have/share a blissful experience w/ one as yet unknown? Nice mood painting Liane. In the second stanza you take a trip w/ him but the rest of the poem, you are contemplative and reminiscing so I feel that all was in mind and heart therefor, the wishing; the longing but not sad; ruminating.

    With appreciation,

    -Timothy Russell
