It is kinder to not give someone false hope.

If I wanted to I could try

but I love someone more than you

I know my truth makes you cry

but honesty is the best I can do

I could pretend to really love you

and it would keep you happy for a while

but you would realise I am being untrue

and it would kill me to see you lose your smile

    A very thoughtful poem, and what you tell here is the way it should be in all cases; tell the truth even if it hurts at first, but don`t give a person false hope, especially when it comes to love.
