I’m sure you’ve all been judged before.
Would any one else like to tell me what I’m doing daily.
I was unaware that everyone knew what was going on in my life now.
I sure don’t see you everywhere I go
So my face must be a book that you can read
Even when I’m not facing your way
But you’ve caught my eye from the side view
I guess I could spare some time to hear a story all about me.
Let me know all that I have going on in your fantasy.
Telling me my love life is out of sight
And who you thought I was with last night.
Maybe I did kiss last night
But that’s what made you ticked off right
Never mind, lets keep talking about me
And these baggy clothes that make me look bigger than you.
My rap songs that automatically make me a gangster
Even though you didn’t take the time to listen to what I was saying.
Telling me I’m dumb because I go to a community college
And I’m taking a semester off.
Little do you know that I’m blessed
And I’m working hard saving for something real.
If you read this you probably wouldn’t think
That it’s a big deal
And tell me that I can’t be a poet or a rapper
That what I’m doing is dumb
And that I need to grow up.
Tell me I need to cut my hair
That I worked so hard on to get past my shoulders
And that the pony tail and braids that I get
Are childish and unprofessional.
I can’t see any of these negative things about myself
Unless you let me know
Please come, I’d like to hear more about me.
