My love gives me hope and inspiration in a time of devastation.

News overflowing with hostility,

Kids being killed at school.

Forgotten the ways of civility,

Uzis now thought as cool.

Death in the name of God,

Death for almighty oil.

Why isn’t this seen as odd?

Why must earth we spoil?

Today the flowers bloomed,

Even while hatred grew.

I wouldn’t think earth so doomed,

If all I could see is you.

I like the way you linked the contrast of protest with sentiment.

Oh, I know, its another killing everytime I turn on TV. And who can say why. It must be the way we are raising our kids. Maybe we raise them to expect too much by giving them too much praise and leading them to think everyone should be their friend. Maybe we should let them learn how to handle failure at a young age.And not be so ready to sooth every hurt.

Striking poem..some people are unfortunately just born with the idea of eliminating people who have …and take us back hundreds of years in the process..yet wealth has to be shared better..

I like the spark of hope in this piece, it is much like the spark of hope that pokes its head out in the world around us from time to time. Not all is lost when we realize we still have one another.
