If love is a fairytale, it’s the original and not the censored sweet version; the original tales were horror stories. I suppose that’s how “she” saw me, not as a prince, not even a boy, but a monster and so she ran away keeping her shoes, so I couldn’t follow.

If Cinderella kept her shoes
Whatever would Prince Charming do?
If she ran the way she did
However would he make his bid?
To seek her out and win her heart
Would he know a way to start?
For his kingdom vast he’d call
His Cinderella near or far

He’d have his servants, his army yes
He knocked on doors and maybe guess
A Fairy Godfather, maybe this
Until her love was truly his

I have no money no one can aid
All I pray is dreams don’t fade
And magic words and fairy dust
Do not make my princess trust

I danced no ball with her in arm
I spoke no words of suave or charm
No kingdom held or crown to speak
A princess she but I am weak
And yet I search to find a way
To win my beauty’s love today
Me, the prince are lucky true
The girls we love lost their shoes…
