By Bryan Wegman.
I was walking down a path
And the trees sway
I kept walking that same path
And the earth shakes
Well I took my shaking legs
And I began to walk on
The trees start lurking
Looking over my shoulder
Staring
But I like to go to the shore
Throw a pebble
Stumble my way back to the trail
Where I’m waited on by a little man
He shines my shoes and tells me go on
I walk
Ground shakes
The animals appearing
And then they start staring
And a deer
The sun brightens a little lighter
To reflect my hair
So smooth
I kick my leg
Dirt lurks like fog
Monsters in the corner
Next to a tree
With no answer to my question
Am I there?
The wind starts a churning
My body’s sent turning
A marching band whistles the tune of
Gust
Burning in my lungs
My head floats
Flying
If only I had a Twix
Break
Chew, Yum
The demon lies inside me
One way out
I cut
I search
He screams
I fall
The clouds grow closer
Slowly filling my field of vision
They stop and open
I’m there
