This was a poem I had to write for English class in response to another poem called “Quiet World”.
If I had 167 words per day, my mind would be in constant disarray. I wouldn’t know what to say. But that wouldn’t keep me from being an optimistic person. I’d play my role so world wouldn’t worsen. I’d wake up with a smile on my face, and nothing to be said. In the shower, I’d think of a song, and sing in my head. I would throw my clothes on with the absence of light. I would kiss my sleeping beauty and tell her I love her, with all my might. I’d step out the door and continue the fight. I’d say F the system, this isn’t right. My responsibilities would be taken care of. Therefore providing for who I love. I would limit my words to what was essential, and show the world my infinite potential. I’d get off work and come home to a dream come true. I’d play XBOX if I had nothing to do. I’d let the haters do their mocking, and my bullets do my talking. Dinner would be set with a smile on her face. Words would be exchanged at a steady pace. We’d finish up and get ready for bed. She’d lie next to me, “I love you,” that’s what I said. Without words left, the sparks on her tongue did the talking. Our day ended with our lips locking.
