Maybe things would be different if I had not thrown away the key.
My heart was locked and I threw away the key
So you could not ever have me
You tried to open up my heart, but it would not budge or come apart
You could have loved me,if only I hadn’t thrown away the keyI
threw it somewhere in the sea
Never wanted to open it for anybody
You asked me politely if I would open it for you but
you did not understand when I told
you that was something I just could not do
You kept asking, pleading why I kept on wondering if I should just make up a lie
When I told you I threw away the keyYou looked at me with eyes of disbelief
I had so much love to give beforeI
found the lock and the key at the
storeand when I put it on my heart I became immune
I did not know the numbness would kick in so soon
My heart was locked and I threw away the key
So you could not ever have me
You tried to open up my heart, but it would not budge or come apart
You could have loved me,
if only I hadn’t thrown away the key
