This poem discusses how a person should feel when they are facing the end of their life, and death is an inevitable consequence.

If I must die, then let me not

Go to my grave full of guilt, shame and defeat

Let me not go with fear of the unknown

Or of what I will experience in the afterlife

If I must die, then let me go with dignity

Courage and triumph

Knowing that I’ve lived life to the fullest

Knowing I’ve been all I was meant to be

Knowing I’ve accomplished all my goals

If I must die, then let me not

Wallow in self-pity, yearning for what

Might have been or what never happened

Let me not wish for the impossible

But only for those goals I could easily reach

If I must die, then let me reminisce

On the good times, all the great

And wonderful times I shared with others

Knowing they loved me for me

For  who I was, not judging me for my sins

If I must die, then let me pray

To my Creator and my Savior

That I will find eternal peace and rest for my soul

Knowing that this time, like no other

Its all in Their hands

Amen to that. Most profound and well written.
