A poem done in my Creative Writing class based off of another poem entitled the same.

If I were in charge of the world

There would be no feeling

A shadow that eclipsed the sun

Billions left in the dark

If I were in charge of the world

The strongest voice would dominate

The one with the power would stand forth

And possess all means to annihilate all that is known

If I were in charge of the world

The older days would cease to exist

A memory of days long gone

A wish on the lips of a child

If I were in charge of the world

The media would rule the minds

Swaying the elderly

Molding the youth

If I were in charge of the world

There would be no unity

A world removed from itself

Trapped in perpetual isolationism

If I were in charge of the world

The aches and sufferings of the average would go overlooked

A child’s pain disregarded for carelessness

A sign of emotion considered weakness

If I were in charge of the world

Those people would fade away

Gone away into the night without a voice

Billions of lives erased

If I were in charge of the world

The emotions remaining, if desired

Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world

Interesting poem. I’m not sure I get it, but it is making me think about what is being said. Maybe that is the point?
