Another poem I wrote, awhile back. It’s about the act of crying. What are tears really for?

If you’re going to cry …
remember that nothing in this world is yours,
so whatever you lose,
is something you choose,
years maybe days ago,
but it was never yours,
and never will be yours,
you found what you think you lost,
but it was created to give and take,
it’s like a cyclone that leaves nothing in its wake,
for it takes with it everything,
and it can’t be charged,
for it destroyed what was meant to be obliterated,
it didn’t steal anything away,
it took what was rooted in its way.

If you’re going to cry …
think about the tears the others pour,
or the tears they neglect,
give them respect,
because they don’t cry because they have lost hope,
it’s like not being able to clean yourself with a bar of soap,
clean your conscience, clear your mind,
the tears of everyone, us do bind,
but we cry at will,
and they cry or don’t cry at true pain,
they let out true rain,
for they suffer more than words can describe.

If you’re going to cry …
think about what you’ve done,
maybe the hurt at the root of your tears,
affects the other too and maybe you’ve done nothing about it,
it’s like complaining of a weed in a garden, but letting it grow,
you still let your tears flow,
but why is the question,
you feel you got hurt but maybe you put yourself there,
and now the pain you caused is too much for you to bear,
and your tears drip by drip,
make you believe that you were under the whip,
but maybe you were the instigator,
so attempt to become an investigator,
measure your own faults,
limit your defaults,
and then think about the tears that are needed for this situation.

If you’re going to cry …
it’s a sign that you’re strong,
but you could be wrong,
but you could be right,
about this fight,
at least think about who this affects,
and do your best to correct your defects.
Don’t make a mistake,
and then cry that it went wrong,
because then your moan just becomes a song,
the kind that is disliked when it’s over played,
or the tuneless song, that is always delayed.
Don’t cry so much, for making that mistake,
it’s about time you got off your pillow and became awake.
You tell yourself you’re going to plant a new tree,
someday you’re going to be someone the whole world is going to see.

If you’re going to cry …
don’t cry that you can’t win,
because that is a sin,
to your mentality,
you got to keeping chanting success like a mantra,
and don’t cry because I direct my anger towards you,
it means there is something to correct,
and you’d better get on it,
and stop wasting tears,
or soon we’ll have a sixth ocean,
so stop feeling self-pity and get in motion,
repaint that picture until its devoid of every last teardrop.
Now climb that mountain and become the summit,
no more rain to the ground will plummet.

If you’re going to cry …
don’t cry for what you fear,
now it becomes a weakness,
to your world it brings a bleakness,
a fear is meant to be overcome,
it’s like finally understanding a difficult sum,
you’ve got to stand up and be yourself,
get rid of the fear,
like you get rid of your tears,
they happen in correlation,
there’s always a causation,
but only you know,
so don’t put on a show,
we have enough water to go around,
70% of this world is water bound,
so save it for when it’s worth letting go,
that’s when you’ve got to let everything flow.

If you’re going to cry …
then go ahead and cry,
the point is the tears can’t be a lie,
or at least think about why you’re creating a pond,
where a lilypad floats and perhaps a frog makes it’s home,
because anyone can live in the fake,
so try to survive a real life and get out of this lake.
Stretch your wings, it’s time to fly,
so don’t be shy,
but let the tears have a measure of sweetness,
let the self-pity fade away to discreteness …
and now cry.

If you’re going to cry …
