A visit to the doctor brings explanation of many things. No, I’m not particularly ill; just getting older, and not very happy about the changes it brings.

When words fail
    and there is no way
    to explain.

when what was done
     yesterday can no longer
     be done today.

When that feeling of malaise
     is not sloth but
     the body shutting down,

We endure the slights and sneers,
     hidden spiteful grins,
     the muffled jokes;

With wisdom’s hard won equilibrium
We are too aware of what
     they fail to know.

Should they live so long, they too,
     Shall come one day
     To this empty place.

Therefore, because we our own faults
     Do have in woeful plenty,
     Forgive their ignorance.

Yes we are all growing older , but remember as you grow older so does your wisdom, its your body ageing not your mind.
The young should listen too and respect the old more

I know the the feeling well and try not to dwell on it. There are lots of things we oldies can still do, often better than those who sneer.
    A very good post.

Most of the nurses I work with are young, just starting life and their families. At times I feel so old and left behind.

Yes, we might think when we are youngsters it will never happen to us, but it does. It will come to those who laugh and make fun too.
