I normally don’t like free verse. I don’t even know if this is true free verse. But this one turned out alright, I even like it a little.

Find me here,
And bind me near
To the closest part of your heart you can bear.
As we start to feel the fear of others,
We will merely hold each other
Closer than any sister or brother.
Or anyone else we know.
As the end of the world looms
We sit on tablecloths in the grass and mushrooms
To eat the last pears.
Ignoring the snares that trap everyone running.
Because to care is to hurt.
Pain is too hard to share with anyone running.
So we sit on red and white checkers
And wave away the wasps with our eyes closed.
If Ignorance is bliss
Than this is it
We can sense it as we sit
And consciously miss
Any sign of chaos around us.
We hold hands happily.
