This is a lyric poem designed for lovers separated by time and distance. Discover how distance makes the heart grow fonder.
“I’m Coming Home for Our Lovesong and Our Kisses”
When I am gone will your love still burn like fire?
Will our lovesong linger like a stubborn thrill on your lyre?
Will every heartstring tremble like a living wire
And haunt you with my touch with delirious desire?
Will every pluck of each chord join our hearts sigh for sigh,
Calling up the angels to sing our forsaken lovechoir?
Will each note be a heartquake doubling the beat of a drum
As from the vast distance I feel every heartbeat you strum?
If you’re strumming our lovesong on a dark wintry night,
And the enamored stars shine for you like diamonds bright,
I shall come hurrying home to take away their light
And lay them at your feet till they faint with fright.
The envious stars can’t outshine the fire in my eyes,
As the lovenotes spin my passions into soft cries
For sweet kisses burning more hot than pure wine,
And every touch of your hand a separate shrine.
Strike the chords faster, let the sparks to heaven fly,
I’m coming home before the last strains die;
When the last star is gone your heart will lie
Upon my bosom yielding to desire as I cry.
I cry for more of our music and the missed kisses
Under the dark chilly skies as I beg for more caresses;
Your tense lips gentling on mine like fragrant roses
Speak the enchanting pleasure of of the love it causes.
Could I wish for a higher heaven
When beneath God’s skies our love argues Eden?
What more could I wish to feel and see
When your loving arms imparadise me? ###
