Spoken Word Poetry.

When you look at me

You just might see

Someone dealing with

Extra ordinary

Difficulties

But I’m not buried

I’M PLANTED

Like a seed

Even though it can be

Cold and lonely

When your home is only

As big as your body

You begin to feel like

The walls are closing in

But the closed in feeling

Is what you feel before

The growth begins

My God waters me

Always reminds me

That I’m not buried

I’M PLANTED

Like a seed

So I refuse to let

The abuse that happened

To me

In the past

Keep me from

My destiny

My trials have brought

About the

Best in me

Extra ordinary people

Suffer extra ordinarily

But I serve an Extra Ordinary God

Who is always in control

And the amount of pressure that’s endured

Is the only difference between

A precious diamond

And black coal

So I’m not quick to get stressed

When the pressures of life

Have pressed

Themselves

So heavily upon me

I was born with comeback power

In my DNA

So I don’t run

I stay!

Like a farmer

That lay’s his crop

I sit back

Relax

And patiently wait

Cuz I’m not buried

I’M PLANTED

Like a seed

I’ll break free soon

You may remember

The pain that came with

December

But expect the miracle

That comes

Middle to late June

I went down in the

Ground one single seed

By itself

But I’m coming up a whole tree

Now I’m feeding myself

No longer relying on anyone else

But GOD

Who shines upon me

Making my fruit bare prosperously

I was born to prosper you see

Although the process may hurt

When you’ve been covered in dirt

God makes you one with the earth

So you can properly grow

Cuz we aint buried

WERE PLANTED

Like seeds

Designed to break through

Harden soil or sometimes

Concrete

Cuz when you’re planted

There’s no place but up 2 go.

Past the one’s who’ve tried to bury

You in troubled soil

For their troubled souls

Even those who try countless times

To dig you up

Will have no luck

Cuz your seed is stuck

You have been planted by God

Who single handedly

Branded you

A virtuous child

You see your destiny

Relies on your ability

To be able to clearly see that

You’re not buried

Even when you see no sun

The growth has just begun

You have to understand that

You’re not buried

If you are in a fight for your life

Or out here just trying to survive

Understand that the only reason you’re still alive is

You’re not buried

You’re planted

Like a seed

Just wanting to break free and breathe

And like our brother Job

Who made it through

God planted you to multiply you too

But if you are like me

You’re claustrophobic

And can’t stand to be in tight places

Surrounded by unfamiliar faces

So I start calling out to other seeds

I see planted in the dirt around me

I see you PoeDa

Way over there

Looking so beautifully handsome

As your growin’ apples in your hair

And NuScience you’re getting’ greener

Every time you spit yo’ lines

I can tell That God is in you

By the pricking

Of your pines

Amarie you can’t be nothing other

Then the juiciest orange tree

People will pick from your knowledge

And grow themselves intellectually

Beautifully Spoken your bananas baby

Spoken so beautifully

I can’t wait to see you full grown

Swinging side by side

Right next to me

Brother Wisdom you’re an oak

Philosophically

You’ll be around to see

that you are more then

You ever in vision life is calling you

To be

And the countless others

That lie in the dirt beside us

While the world walks above us

Remember,

We are not buried

WERE PLANTED

Like seeds.

And together we are a whole orchard

Of possibilities.
