now if while on my journey i happen to stumble and fall

I lift my head toward heaven and on Jesus I do call

well he picks me up and turns me around and sends me on my way

and tells me good work my child you’ve made it through another day

now when i get discouraged and I think that no one cares

Jesus whispers softly press on your almost there

he puts his hand in  my hand and tells me your not alone

don’t give up just a few more steps and then you will be home

I ‘m one step closer to heaven and I’m clinging to the nail scarred hands

the journeys long and hard when you’re headed for the promise land

through of all life’s struggles happy I will be

cause I’m one step closer to heaven where my Jesus is waiting for me
