It’s so hard to get back in shape after excesses of recent weeks.

Image vi Wikipedia

I’m trying to be really good,

After excesses of recent weeks,

To cut out fats and starchy foods

And eat lettuce, greens and leeks.

But I don’t know what has happened.

My self control has gone awry.

I can’t resist that gooey bun

That’s sitting idly by.

My sweet tooth’s craving sugar

And will not obey my brain,

So I’m clearing out all rubbish food

And it’s causing me much strain.

But I haven’t got a choice

If I’m to return to my sylph-like form.  (ha ha!)

I’ve got to be strong and push myself

Or I’m never going to reform.

With your strong urge and determination to do so, well, of course, you’ll feel good.

I really like this poem, very creative, and I can relate some to this, it is hard! Well you know I am here to be of support! (:

I have been so proud of the fact that I lost 10 pounds but 4 found their way back since Christmas and yesterday was our anniversary and we had a four course dinner out. It is hard to stop once you have gotten your sweet tooth into sweets again.

  • Pablina on Jan 10, 2010

Love it. I am still trying to resist temptation from 2 years ago! lol

    I must try harder.

  • Phill Senters on Jan 10, 2010

At least you’re not alone in your struggle. Looks like we all have our share of it.

  • ken bultman on Jan 10, 2010

  • Francois Hagnere on Jan 10, 2010

  • martie on Jan 10, 2010

I’ve never been a big sweet eater, bread is my downfall.

  • TroostAvenue on Jan 10, 2010

Well, Christine, you really got that right. This has everything of a good poem; good structure, good idea development, and excellent rhyming. Only the last line seemed to me to be a bit out of cadence. Back to topic, from that picture of you in the bikini, you seem to be doing pretty well, and the years seem to be melting away as well. Congratulations, but isn’t it freezing cold now where you live? You’ll get your death of cold.

  • F J McCarthy on Jan 10, 2010

Great Poem Christine, oh how temptation comes in so many deliscious forms,I am fighting tha battle of the bellybulge, lol I really enjoyed reading this,Thank you, Yours FJ McCarthy

That’s true. No pain, no gain. Which explains you should sacrifice a bloated stomach for eating much and gaining extra weight. Next thing to do is exercise to downsize. A hard thing to do when you can’t sweat it out at freezing temperature.Another well crafted lines, Christine. BTW about the bikini, that was how it started as the records say.

  • Zamkey on Jan 10, 2010

    wow.. nice..

  • Val Mills on Jan 10, 2010

  • LoveDoctor on Jan 10, 2010

Happy New Year! Great one! Look at it this way. Tomorrow is the second week of January and I think that most people will be back to normal. Last week, it still felt like the holidays. A good idea would be to post a picture on the wall of a magazine celebrity or something visual pertaining to fitness. it will give you that motivation. good luck.

  • Ruby Hawk on Jan 10, 2010

Christine, I\’m having the same problem, all the food during the holidays has ruined me. My doctor told me in Nov. to lose 5 pounds by March. That sounds easy enough but I\’m afraid I gained 5 during the holidays. I\’m trying to get really strict with myself.

Expert once said that the best time to eat is when you feel like eating, and don\’t eat when you don\’t, is there any logic? ha ha …
I would say, eat moderately for anything (i talk as if I\’m an expert, but frankly, i am lousy, just heard from other experts)… ha ha..
very fun poem again, enjoy very much.
