Original poetry by Chris Stankis.
the pendulum swings
the clock keeps ticking
yet within the face, there is no movement
for here in this place, in this moment
time remains the same
without a past or future to voice their complaints
as present is the only father of time with a place in these domains
so here we stand, just you and i
hand in hand and eye to eye
and through your eye’s reflection
i can describe this world of contradiction
where the laws of logic no longer apply
and even gravity is being defied
in the spring, evergreen trees shed their leaves
before they’re even settled
and flowers bloom during autumn’s gloom
with snow upon their petals
but you, my dear,
remain concrete
and without you here
to take my trust and to hold my heart
this world of contradiction would completely fall apart
