                            It seems our world isn’t real anymore,

                            somewhere it has gotten very artificial.

                            Sugar coating is now a very normal thing,

                            honesty doesn’t seem to mean too much.

                            ****

                            Marriage used to be a permanent thing,

                            a couple stuck it out for better or worse.

                            But getting a divorce is a common thing,

                            having a new lover before the ink dries.

                            ****

                            Love if used in the right way is fantastic,

                            but the word is tossed around like a salad.

                            Real love takes time to nurture and grow,

                            saying it if you don’t mean it isn’t right.

                            ****

                            Conceiving a child isn’t a bad thing at all,

                            but it was meant to be done when married.

                            But it seems there are more single parents,

                            we have the mothers but where is daddy?

                             ****

                             Joe married Lauren about two years ago,

                             Lauren thinks she is a very lucky woman.

                             But Joe met Jane and is with her as well,

                             so much for the vows he made to Lauren.

                             ****

                             At once a real man provided for his family,

                             doing what it took to put food on the table.

                             A real man paid child support for his children,

                             now it seems some don’t think its necessary.

                             ****

                             It seems our world isn’t real or is it just me?

                             real honorable men and women are scarce.

                             It’s a dog eat dog world that has no mercy,

                             maybe honesty flew away with the birds.
