Stumbling through the streets of Bethlehem town
A group of simple shepherds in the night
Looking for a king, wearing not a crown
Responding to angelic vision bright
A choir lit the sky, filling it with light
Announcing Savior’s long awaited birth
Declaring that the time God set was right
Shepherd’s cringed in fear, knowing lack of worth
Seeking in stables, for God come to Earth
A glory they’d seen, never would it fade
They searched through the town, its length and its girth
To find tiny babe, in a manger laid
In his mother’s arms, long last they found him
Divine child’s face, viewed in candle light dim

Unacquainted with Edmund. Loved the poem in spite of my ignorance.

It is a great tribute to Spenser’s rhyme scheme.

I like the Spenserian style, but phrasing is difficult to maintain within the form. Consequently, the reading can be stuttered. Syllabically-speaking, your meter fits; but in so doing, it reads like sentence fragments in parts. Very nice effort, though. You’ve developed your voice and style very well over a short period of time, so I think you’re up to more demanding critiques. ;^D

Well done! I find writing sonnets very difficult indeed, and haven’t even attempted one in the Spencer style, so I take may hat off to you :) (especially as you also manged to keep the iambic pentameter!)
