How do we justify the most heinous crimes of our era and the era past, and indeed, for all time?
Before father Israel journeyed
Finally
Towards Her Majesty’s last sanctioned
Promised Land.
In middle Europe, where Emperors
Had smote kings
And our dear father was in shackles
Damned the Solemn Refuse.
In then, when humanity was lost
Or replaced
By devices of authority
Strange to hearts.
They made strange our understanding too
Igniting
The Greater War within Modern Man
Enter father’s Ghetto.
What cancer struck the human spirit?
Tyranny?
Nay, ‘twas the clockwork of factories,
We’ll explain.
Within each singular human being
Is conflict
Between love and love: soul and edict
Each vein, one in the same
The first love is that of harmony
Of senses:
Joy in all hearts; of one’s very self
And others.
The second is that of discipline
Of the mind
Which prophesizes stability
En mass: Society!
A soldier will commit heinous crimes
For his kin
A butcher will slaughter entire herds
For his wife.
Err is not in the execution,
It’s in want
For each singular ill built structure
Which fathers often praise.
