of foot-steps coming down,

confused, she called out a name,

it rattled her emotions just the same,

in that instant of dark silence,

fear came,

put her in a mental trance,

before she had a chance

to cry out for help,

her resilience was caged,

he struck her,

he was enraged,

in stunned pain,

her life would drain.
