It is good to remember…

Image via Wikipedia

In the beginning of time He made up His mind
Pulled the waters away to show the dry land
Through heating and cooling He molded and pushed
And formed a low hill that was covered with sand

.

With tears in His eyes He stood in that place
And looked down in time to a faraway day
when stalwart young soldiers would crush a thief’s legs
but leave Him to Joseph to carry away

.

before the first lichen had cleaved to a stone
He made a green stem gently shaded by moss
with sunshine and rain the tree blossomed and grew
in a faraway day it would form a great cross

.

with tears in His eyes he leaned soft on that tree
felt the thunder of hammers from hard roman hands
and the bite of cruel nails in His hands and His feet
pouring bright cleansing blood to soak deep in the sands

.

before Adam was formed He knew man would not stay
in His sheltered embrace near the sound of His voice
but as we love our children and let them fall down
so He stepped back and gave Eve and Adam their choice

.

Though He knew we would fail, still He left us to choose
Then, knowing the price was more than we could give
He became man to pay the debt each of us owed
And thus freed us to love, and to sing, and to live.

.

O God, my Lord God, let me never forget
The plan that You fashioned before time was new
May the choice that I make every hour, every day
Be to curb sinful self, and in all ways please You.

Though we may personify God, each in our own fashion, you have captured the essence of truth that He embraces all. Well written.
