For my brother and sister, whom I love dearly.
My brother is beside me,
He’s three, and we pretend
We are dinosaurs, for the moment
We roar with fearsome laughter
Begging for trouble and joy
He is mine, and I love him.
My sister is beside me,
We don dresses and pretend
We are princesses, for the moment
We drink tea from cups of laughter
Begging for cookies and joy
She is mine, and I love her.
They are both beside me,
They’ll stay small forever, I pretend
And they are, for the moment
As we roll in waves of laughter
and soak up years of joy
They are mine, and I love them.
