A poem about life, death, living, man, time, God, questions, eternity.

Going through the motions of life

Daily living, cooking, cleaning,

dealing with contention and strife.

Talking and walking, comforting a child

eating and drinking and paying bills

The world knocks on our door, they don’t care.

Time is for mankind,  we  have night and day,

Hours, minutes, seconds,  seasons, years, era’s and eon’s

But eternity is timeless and perpetual.  It is infinite, endless

We mortals cannot comprehend it

Yet we seek after it in the someday;

The promises made By a wiser God

Seeking comfort, peace

Finding solace in sleep.

The sun rises each day;

We laugh a little, we play

Then we stop and we remember

Someone we love is missing; not here anymore

The sparkling blue eyes, sweet cherubic smile

Laughter stills,  We weep, we cry, asking

A million questions of why?  We are broken hearted

The Universe remains silent, we find

A message vague here, there in scriptures of the word

Of a merciful God,  about his plan, his purpose, resurrection

Life precedes death once more, a spirit re-united with the body

But not the same, ever changed to a better purpose and time.

But nothing at all that is concise or clear.

Hope springs eternal, man abides with in his time

But when a loved one crosses over in to eternity

We don’t understand, we reach out trying to

bridge the gap in between, nothing is as it seems

Our hearts cry out, in a silent scream.

Light of the spirit dances across the stars up and away

To the heavens, to God, to his mercy seat of love.

Eternity is not for us it is not ours,  it belongs

To another realm we have not yet reached

We get a glimpse and glimmer of a hope in a distant

future, a better world,  where there is no weeping

no bitterness, no war, no pain, no sorrow

In a better tomorrow somewhere, some day

But we are left here on earth to pine, to mourn

We are lonely, forlorn,  missing a child, a mother, a father

Sister, brother, friend.   But infinity has no end, time is not

our friend. We love, we laugh, we dream, we hope, we cry

Only God knows the answers why.

We move on, but a piece of our happiness, our world is gone

nothing, no one can ever replace that smiling face

Or fill the hole left in our heart.   We can only pray that the time

is not over long before those we love are back with us or we join them

In a better world and we rejoicing and reunited in dance and song

Life is not our own it is to God whom we belong. What remains is

LOVE;  J0HN 3:16
