The wife of Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Ani Hidayat, died in a hotel in Surabaya on Saturday morning. It is unknown yet what had caused the death.

“Ibu Ani’s remains is expected to arrive at Halim [Halim Perdanakusumah Airport in East Jakarta] from Surabaya at about 12 p.m.,” Industry Ministry communication officer Iwan said Saturday.

He said the remains would be laid in state in the house of mourning on Jl. Sisingamangaraha No. 27-29, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

Minister Hidayat, meanwhile, told that the funeral would be held at Tanah Kusir Cemetery Park in South Jakarta at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

He had been in Bali for the ASEAN Summit and its related summits when receiving a report on his wife’s death.

The minister then immediately sought a permission to leave the event to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and took off to Surabaya on Saturday morning, according to presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha.

Julian said the President had expressed his condolences over Ani’s death.

Local media earlier reported that Ani died at about 5 a.m. on Saturday at Marriot hotel in Surabaya. No reports have been made on the possible cause of the death.
