This is a poem written by a mother who is thankful to God for giving her the chance to raise children and watch them grow. She relates how she watches them run and play with no fears or pain. She realizes that pure innocence lies in the freedom to be a child and enjoy life for what it is.

The wind in the willows

A smile on my face

I am glad to be

Of the human race.

My children run by

With their faces aglow

They’re happy and free

With what little they know.

Innocence so pure

Pureness so fine

I’m glad that these children

Are simply divine.

With God’s help I know

That my children will be

Remarkable creatures

For the world to all see.

So now I pray

That He’ll give me the strength

To help them to grow

To go the whole length.
