This poem portrays paedophilia from the victim’s point of view. The perpetrators of this problem need to see the error of their ways and seek professional help and guidance.

In your well-designed web I became ensnared

I became your prey and and at times felt quite scared

You showered me with gifts which I enjoyed at the time

But abuse of carnal knowledge is most definitely a crime.

I felt so trapped and so alone

Not really knowing who to phone

My innocence was lost and cast into the wind

You had no remorse and constantly sinned.

I felt guilty and thought that I had done wong

And really felt like I didn’t belong

But one day a good friend came to my aid

And together we talked and then we prayed.

I found the courage to make a complaint

My anger was surfacing so I needed restraint

In a calm, stead manner I stated my case

And was shown a picture of the accused’s face.

I confirmed the  suspect who had been kept on file

And was known to police as a paedophile

My evidence helped to put this person in jail

And I now know justice can sometimes prevail.

So if you or someone is being abused

Trust in somebody and stop being used

Just know you are a precious human being

Trust in your instincts and keep on believing.
