Sometimes who you know very well can become an intimate stranger. They look the same but are different now.Time and circumstances change both parties but a touch of familiar remains. Can intimate strangers become acquainted again and see like they did before?Only time will tell if it can be done or not.

`

I saw you sitting at our local ice cream shop,

its been a long while since I have seen you.

You sit and don’t know that I am watching you,

you are more interested in your root beer float.

****

You still look the same since our last meeting,

age hasn’t taken away from what I remembered.

I get the nerve to walk over to your small table,

putting on a hesitate smile and told you a hello.

****

A surprised smile crossed you still handsome face,

I still see the dark brown eyes that made me melt.

Your deep voice still holds that incredible charm,

My mind goes back to the first time I ever heard it.

****

An invitation is given to join you for a late lunch,

I have already eaten but order a chocolate shake.

But though I see the more familiar things about you,

your voice tells me that some things has changed to.

****

Father time has added a touch of grey to you now,

but in my mind I still see the man I met years ago.

Your deep voice now carries more of a rougher tone,

maybe life hasn’t gone as you originally planned either.

****

You still look great in blue jeans and a matching jacket,

but your body language tells me that it isn’t the same.

I wonder if you ever married your beautiful young lady,

but as usual you don’t believe in wearing a wedding ring.

****

There seems to be a difference in  how you talk  to mew now,

somewhere we have lost the  close connection we used to have.

But considering the current circumstances I do understand,

time hasn’t completely taken it all away from me or you either.

****

But you have also noticed that I have changed since then,

but reassures me that most are for the better in my case.

Long white hair has now taken over my then brunette hair,

but you tell me that you still consider me very beautiful.

****

I tell you that I meant my word and never got remarried,

pouring my life into my family and my passion for writing.

But I did finally read the book you wrote earlier this year,

I have it in my purse will you autograph it while your here?

****

We talked until the ice cream shop finally had to close,

it really didn’t matter how much either party really changed.

We both saw enough of who we was when we was in love,

oddly enough the changes didn’t bother you or even me.

****

Business cards were exchanged as we went our own way,

but a long lingering look passed between us before then.

Intimate strangers we were at the ice cream shop today,

but it doesn’t mean that it has to stay that way either.
