A day I missed home.
languid sound of morbid night
light my mood before sleep tonight
with memories of days now mist
vividly shining in my midst
as light fails the day and follows it’s path
the phoenix stays it’s wings on breath of night
the path now strapped to broken feet
lies straight ahead and my shadow follows
the path less traveled still shrouds it’s pace
like mother moon with a muslim face
like wet sand under a thousand feet
still no respite for my thirst to find
when the horn blasted proudly
and i listened to the call
when i took the leap soundly
on the broken bough
a hand was on the tiller
and it rests there still
when the dessert wind embraced me
and i did not shy away
a new song was written
and it’s being sung still
of how a life can dance on
without the music of our needs
to make the sails sing shrill
with your unworthy deeds
the need is strong within me to wake up to the sound
of all those friends and lovers gathering around
to listen to my story with no ridicule or spite
as my words trail of in rhythm to a warm dessert night
now listen to me closely as i spin this web tonight
there’s no respite in running towards a cowards light
as dawn lies softly waiting to pounce upon your sight
to wake you from illusion and save you from your plight
into foreign lands we’ve traveled
into foreign minds we’ve sung
into familiar arms i’ve cowered
into deliverance i’m flung
so with longing in my pocket
and confession on my tongue
i once again take refuge that before too long
shtagtiglik waghed
