A difficult but necessary task……

Quiet moments of introspection

Reassessment of my life

Choices made, chances taken

And those not (these haunt me most)

How would it have turned out

Had I traveled down a different path?

Do all roads lead

To the same destination?

What of the people I’ve met?

Some came and went

Other remained a constant

All with a lesson to teach

Be they pleasant or painful

Was I a good pupil?

I stare into the mirror and wonder

What it is that others see

When they look at me?

Beyond the surface; behind the smile

Can I be read like a book?

Do my eyes tell the real story?

Self-examination

Looking at past mistakes

Hopes denied; goals unreached

Dreams yet unfulfilled

Opportunities missed

Love lost

Quiet moments of introspection

Reassessment of my life

It’s good to take a look at what might have been except it produces questions to which there are no answers.

Certainly keep in mind that you live in such a world where there an invisible controls, pressures, and limitation of options made available by Unjust entities; Some things are beyond our control. We can try to make the best of it. Think of the Jews born in Germany during world war II. See how limited their options were?

Wow were you invading my mind this weekend, I felt like, no actually I had a talk with God, I wanted to know had I been good to people and was I a good person. I said if there is something wrong with my heart please show me what to do. Thank you for sharing, I loved it. My very talented friend.

Leonardo: You are dead on once again. As a black woman, I certainly know about societies limitations. I can’t equate my experiences with what the Jews suffered, but I definitely know about race and gender bias first-hand.

You never know until you try. And as they always say…”if at first you don’t succeed…try, try again.” OR “Better to have tried and failed then to never have tried at all.”

Hollywood: Or as someone once told me, “Shoot for the moon! Even if you miss, you’ll be among the stars.” Took me a while to step out and try, but there’s no stopping me now!

Your poem reminds me of these lines from William Stafford’s poem “Ask Me”: “Some time when the river is ice ask me mistakes I have made. Ask me whether what I have done is my life.”

To look beneath the surface….if only…. I love the way you write. We must all search our soul every now and again. Be true to yourself as you appear to be, and other will see the same. It’s no wonder you have such a good following here. It appears that what you see is what you get. I like you. Lots.
