Angel or ghost?

Upon the hour of midnight

Moonlight, all aglow, cascading

Between the darkened corners

There stood before me, an apparition,

Of solid beauty, in timeless form

Like a billowing mist,

She rises, gracefully, elegantly

Is she an angel?

Enchanting tune plays passionately

Of a beauty, so rare

From far across, and yet, so close

She moves towards me, as if, by wings

Unseen, flapping, effortlessly

Like sand through an hourglass

Is she an angel?

Enthralled by her mere sight

Speechless, I am rendered

Her lips quiver, slightly, ah

The seduction of her eyes, unbroken

Earth shattering, mesmerizing

Sends shutters through my soul

Is she an angel?

This divine vision of loveliness

Captivated, I move as if,

In a space without time

The sound of my own heart beats madly

Like that of an age-old rhythmic drumbeat

Is she an angel?

This vision of loveliness,

That seduces me with such ease

Navigating my every thought

And desires upon her

Is she an angel?

I wonder

Wonderful poem… what a flow!… and then the repeated questioning “Is she an angel”… and the answer at the very end…

Let’s eliminate the ghost so it must have been an angel. What a beautiful manner in which to describe your experience.

Should that be ’shudders’ through your soul?

  • Melody SJAL on Apr 17, 2010

Your lines really mesmerize, Deb. I love reading the word “moonlight” in every piece – you see, it’s my official nickname, but now only my relatives and childhoold friends call me that name.

  • Inna Tysoe on Aug 27, 2010

    Thanks for that.
