A cruise to nowhere makes gamblers feel despondent but some say that it was only for fun while others think it would make them feel better if they had won.

It’s a cruise to nowhere

Time again to try their luck

Gamblers board a ship

That pushes out to sea

So that they could

Go through

Their monthly ritual

- – -

“Being away from the shore

Is quite a chore”

Some say

They’ll do it no more

For my friends to sit

Before the slots

And cast their lots

They hope to win

For it has been

A long time coming

Though some thought it

To be a sin

Nevertheless

It’s the same old story

“It was mainly for fun,”

Some grumble

Fumbling their luggage

With disappointment

As they disembarked

- – -

Others console themselves

Saying

“It would have been nice

If we ourselves had won”

Why does it seem like

The same old story

Over and over again

While playing in vain?

Excellent as usual. I figured out something about you…. you do NOT know how to write a bad poem.
Once the lottery in my state was the highest it has ever been. My sister and her husband made me buy a ticket. I bought one ticket for a dollar and I lost and my sister, about 18 years later still will not give me back the dollar I spent. She says it has been too long and the law says it is too many days since the situation happened that she is not required to give me the money =)
