My craving for some chocolate coincided with my friend Val Mills post on chocolate. I succumbed, but apparently she didn’t.

I woke up this morning in such a state.

I’d been dreaming all night of some chocolate.

I have been good for weeks and have not scoffed a crumb

In the effort to lose recent weight I’d put on.

But now I am faced with this situation

Which will not respond to procrastination.

I’ll have to go shopping without delay

If I want this sad craving to go away.

There is plenty of time to eat healthy food,

And I’ll soon burn the calories if I am shrewd.

So for a few hours my diet I delay,

And tomorrow, well, that’s another day.

I have always loved chocolates. As a kid, I’m probably like Cookie Monster when it comes to chocolates. But now that I’m an adult, I crave more for the dark, bitter chocolate. Taste buds are changing…and I don’t eat too much of it anymore. :-)

  • Brewed Coffee on Mar 9, 2011

ps…Ms Christine, it’s alright to give in sometimes. Treat yourself.

  • Edsss on Mar 9, 2011

I love chocolates and as well as I love this poem!

  • petercurtis97 on Mar 9, 2011

Christine chocolate has hard to refuse I know but more-so for a choc lover. Did you ever think about turning into a vegetarian or trying vegies more I know a balanced diet is good.

  • tanny15 on Mar 9, 2011

I love chocolate, it so delicious.

  • J M Lennox on Mar 9, 2011

Poor chocolate. It gets such a bad name when it is in fact good for us (especially dark chocolate) when eaten in moderation. It has components that actually help us to ”feel” good, so I say – enjoy! As Scarlett O’Hara said in Gone With The Wind (& you also), I’ll think about that (the consequences) – tomorrow! Perhaps even just a little longer walk each day. :-)

  • Jay Banzon on Mar 9, 2011

Oh Miss Christine it is not bad to eat chocolates when you crave for it,you deserve one once in a while! Sometimes not getting what we crave for is what will feel us bad. Love your poem Miss Christine,as always!

  • pguims on Mar 9, 2011

jm is right.. things are right better when in moderation… but miss christine should not be moderate in writing poems. lol! they are too good..

  • anndavey650 on Mar 9, 2011

Being good isn’t the same if you’re not bad once in a while. Trouble is when I give in, I’m very baaaaaaaad lol.

  • Starpisces on Mar 9, 2011

just eat it… eat it… eat it..
it’s not healthy when one want something and there’s so much restriction, so far I hardly hear anyone really put on much weight after eating chocolates, hey, I heard chocolate is a kind of vegetable from one of the posts somewhere, am I right?
    Nicely done, as always, Christine.

Anything is okay in moderation. Give in to your craving and then get back on track. When we deprive ourselves totally, it makes sticking to a diet that much harder.

  • Atanacio on Mar 9, 2011

Yeah Chocolate… It always gets me too– Although I fight it off.. but it wins, it knows what I want :)

  • shakugan123 on Mar 9, 2011

I crave for a dark chocolate
Every evening when it is so late
Good thing I save few bars
For if not, I’ll drive my car
and purchase Godiva, hersheys, and See’s
