Feeling keen disappointment at my first attempts to write poetry I went for a walk, my eyes fell on a vine of ivy pushing through the cracks in a concrete wall.
Ivy through the wall
Disregard for brick and mortar
You creep and crawl.
Ivy through the wall
A lesson in persistence
To one and all.
Ivy through the wall
You whispered to me
Lest discouragement befall.
Ivt through the wall
Hope and determination
For me, for all
Ivy through the wall
Your vigor and strength
Lifts me, lest I fall.
Ivy through the wall
The lesson you taught
May I ever recall.
