Man’s best Friend.
Many years have come and gone my old friend, Under the mulberry tree when I said goodbye, Although you never saw the tears in my eyes, I guess you knew that I would in the end. A runt they said unable to fill the purpose, They chose your brother for his perfection, But I could see the sparkle in your eyes, Not for you their silly circus. A storm and lightning you see and thunder you hear, Your heart jumps in time to the rhythm of your search, A place safe inside your imagination, Unaware of not knowing what causes your fear. The smell of spring lingers in the air, Your senses focused on why you are here, But you can not know it only follow the scent, Nature provides so as others may bear. The sun rose quickly and as quickly now fades, Youth and vigour still shining bright in your eyes, Sinews and bones unable to match them, A heart big and brave dragging legs once made. And a picture I carry with me today, Tomorrow the next and for how long to come, Reminding of a loyalty and love boundless, Until the day I too take leave and join you to stay.
