Amusing poem about a girl whose date lasted too long for her parents.

Jennifer Jones,

Will you please come home.

It’s getting very late.

It’s time to end your date.

Now let me get this straight.

You were suppose to be home by ten.

It is twelve o’clock and so don’t try to pretend.

Don’t tell us how you forgot the time.

Don’t tell us that we are out of line.

We won’t be mad.

We won’t scream and yell.

We won’t ground you.

We won’t ring your bell.

But dear daughter we are worried warts.

This dating business is a dangerous sport.

Ah, finally you are home at last.

Too bad your date ran out of cash.

Now get upstairs and go to bed.

We’ll have a nice little chat with your boyfriend Ted.

And as Jennifer went upstairs and the coast was clear,

We kicked dear Ted in his obnoxious rear.

We told Ted that he was very late.

We lectured Ted and told him his fate.

Stay away from our daughter.

You can’t be trusted.

You came two hours late,

And now you are busted.
