A short poem in memory of an innocent.

Jesse James from Manchester

Jesse James from Gangchester

Was just fifteen

When he died.

Jesse James from Gunchester

Was gunned down on his bike

In a park.

Jesse James from Manchester

Refused to join a gang

He just wanted everyone to be friends

And to be a friend to everyone.

Jesse James from Manchester

Was no outlaw

He rejected the outlaw’s law

Became a different, braver kind of outlaw

For which he died.

The outlaws from Gangchester who killed him

Who no-one dares to name

Don’t deserve the ‘respect’ they hold so dear

For which they kill.

Jesse James from Manchester

And others like him

Who have the courage to think for themselves

Deserve all the respect and love

We can give them.

Jesse James from Manchester

Our kids need the world to remember you.
