Not like the natural disasters experienced in some parts of the world. It is a pure religious and political war claiming over 500 lives of Berom Christians at Dogo Nahawa Jos South local government area.

It was mayhem in Jos Plateau Nigeria

Early hours of Sunday March 7 2010

When there is still darkness

And people still sleeping.

Over 150, 200 and now 500 people were killed.

They are mostly women and children

No way to escape the furious way by the Fulani herdsmen

As their houses were set on fire and were caught!

It was a severe killing not by natural disaster

But by human problems and wickedness

It was a planned deal heavily sponsored

A reprisal attack to finish every Christian soul.

It is not yet over, now a mass burial for the victims

A warning from all around the world to Nigeria

Now 200 culprits armed with weapons arrested

What next will the government do to bring peace?

Will this ever be forgotten?

Will this terrorist attack continue to cause tension?

Will the government bring a lasting solution to this?

Will there be a change for good in the land?

Thanks for sharing this. These are the hard facts that will not make the international press. I always feel sorry for all these killing for cultural and religious reasons. It is so useless.

That is terrible. I never saw anything about this on the news. So much killing for no good reason. When will it all stop? Thank you for making us aware of the tragedy.

The horrors of religious wars are beyong imagination. Religion has caused more upheaval and death than any other cause. Why do people let themselves be so brain washed. I know it’s the culture and when an idea is forced into a childs brain it’s there to stay but why do people not eventually wake up and open their eyes? I would wipe the world clean of religion if I could.

  • Moses Ingram on Mar 11, 2010

I have heard about this and can’t help but wonder when religious wars will end. It is not the way of any true people of God.

This is too much to bear, people still remain so ignorant even in this century. They misinterpret religion everywhere.

    Just awful

It is not a mis-interpretation of religion. Religions breed disagreements and war. It is better to teach children to proceed with a system of objective ethics based on fairness and Justice. Religions are filled with mysticism, superstition, and peculiar hatreds, none of which is good for a balanced human intellect.

My worries here is that the government is so weak and helpless for lack of truth. The killings in Jos Plateau is a return match of war against truth. It was the mistake of 1914 during the time of amalgamation of Nigeria joining the north and south. Only God can do the work of saving Nigeria!

Very well written! This is a powerful and stunning poem, and I hope that someday there will be peace!

We could only hope for the best to come. Prayers matter most in hopeless situations.
