A narrative poem describing a fictitious encounter at the pearly gates.

Saying your life was a theatrical satire,
   You sighed this to everyone.
But not really. It was a tired cliché.
And making people sick, was your fun.

But they finally tired of your antics,
Turning away from your social mask,
Exposed you as you really were-
Now life itself was a different task.

No more living for the day,
Treading on those in your path.
Cheating could no longer see you through,
You wallowed pathetically in your aftermath.

Dragged down to the same level,
You found it so hard to cope.
So you tried your angles, your tricks,
But even these no longer held hope.

   But something had to break
   And eventually a meeting occurred;
You faced life right in the jaws-
The light had come and now you purred.
