Caught in the grip of fear and doubt.

Suits and ties are their holy attire

But feet are stuck in judgment’s mire.

Missed the joy of freedom’s rest,

Always fear they’ll fail the test.

In heaven’s love they do not trust,

By words and deeds they must be just.

Faith and grace painted on their wall

But fear and doubt—

Have stained their soul.

A poetic expression of wondering if walking the walk and talking the talk without divine intervention is sufficient.

Very nice flow with great meter and just rolls off the tongue. Great poem Katie. Also like the direction from start to finish and the truth and message behind this wonderful piece. Great prose.

Extremely powerful piece of writing, especially the closing lines ‘ …fear and bout have stained their soul’, stunning work.

Very well captured. Sounds a lot like the ’saviours’ that come to my doorstep all too frequently.
