Decadence of an old fire…

You do not know

Why burned trees

Seem decadent to your senses

Why you want the clamouring

Wind with its

Thick, strong smoke

To linger

Longer

Why inhaling it

Brings back

Staggeringly familiar

Recollections of

An old home

You smile as you

Look at the

Luminous sky

Thinking vividly

Of women burning

Trees while

Half-naked men

With golden thighs

Watch

Sucking deeply

The strong, thick

Smoke from that

Huge July fire

Interesting imagery. A bit disturbing, I think. I can see a hint of darkness here.

thanks, guys. this is actually one of my favorite ones that I wrote. reminds me so of my life back in IL. it was a combination of that phase and my life back in the PI.
funny that RB thinks it’s a bit disturbing. i don’t see it at all. but then again we all have different views /perceptions of whatever it is we read.
