When we look at others what do we see? Are we too hasty in our initial assessment? What if we are wrong?

Just because I laugh that doesn’t mean I’m happy
Just because I cry that doesn’t mean I’m sad
Just because I like to be alone sometimes
Doesn’t mean I feel lonely

Just because I have aged doesn’t mean I’m old
Just because I’m quiet doesn’t mean I have nothing to say
Just because I am disabled in body
Doesn’t mean I am stupid

Just because my eyes don’t work too good
Doesn’t mean I am blind
Just because I wear a hearing device
Doesn’t mean that I am deaf

Just because I’m young
Doesn’t mean I don’t understand
Just because I am not what you want me to be
Doesn’t mean I am not normal

Because
I am also a human being
And I too have things that I believe in
I have hopes, dreams and aspirations
And I also have the right to think for myself
Just because:
I am

You write beautiful poems. I notice you haven’t been active in awhile. I hope you are still writing. You write beautifully.
