When you get so discouraged, so blue and so down,
In your heart is no cheer, on your face is a frown.
Give to Jesus what’s made your heart heavy a while,
Then turn your face upward, from a frown to a smile!
Ever again will your heart feel no cheer?
Will you ever again feel His presence so near?
Just go in the pages of God’s Holy Book,
And turn your eyes upward into His Divine Look!
When the days and the nights alike have ben long,
And you wonder if you’ll ever again sing glad song,
You’re up ever early, work long past high noon,
And the flesh is so weary, devoid of a tune.
And you’re tempted like Israel to wonder, “Can God?”
As you journey life’s pathway, in the sand and the sod.
Turn these two words around to reveal God’s plan,
And with confidence, boldly assert that, “God CAN!”
