This is a work inspired by a drawing I saw posted by artist Don Marco, who specializes in drawings made with crayon – and they are incredible!

KATIE’S GARDEN
A chartreuse field containing white,
Daisies there had caught her sight,
Hair all golden – in pigtails too,
A summer dress all cheerful and blue,
Ribbons of sky holding her tresses at bay,
She cried with delight for this great day,
Clutching a few blooms she’d pulled out,
Enthralled by nature – gazing about,
Overwhelmed by beauty all hers for today,
Her flowery world made all okay,
Scents of grass, dandelion, and more,
Their aromas and color spread like a floor,
Mystical madness for a girl at play,
Her garden – Katie’s garden – hers for the day.
