Keep on Plugging a poem by Jennifer Jo Fay. An inspirational poem for writers and artists to keep on doing what we love to do. Don’t stop doing what you love.
Keep on Plugging
What is it that we love to do?
We love to write
and we love to make art.
We thrive to create and that seems
to be our goal.
We also long to earn money doing what
we love to do.
What do we do?
We develop our own websites,
we create our own blogs,
and we write for these fun writing sites
where we also can earn.
And what do we also do?
We learn about the ins and outs
of social bookmarking
and learn of all kinds of different ways
to increase traffic to our websites
so that we can establish our new businesses
and sell our art and for me it is paperdolls.
Yet, sometimes it seems like such a struggle
to figure out which things work
and which things don’t.
Be careful as all these advertising
places want to take your hard earned money.
Yet, we’re new and we want
our customers too.
And when we write our stuff,
somedays we find it a struggle
and our writer’s block gets the best of us.
Yet, we need to keep on plugging and
finding our way in this wide, wide world
of the future of internet.
Some days it is just hard to get going.
Today for me was a struggle,
trying to get questions answered,
figuring out if selling on amazon is going
to be right for me.
I collected my first lyric poem and
spent some fun time
creating a musical video of me
singing my poem on you tube.
I sounded weird as I wasn’t
quite sure how to sing my poem.
I sound better when I am singing
in the car with cool music to accompany.
I probably should stick to singing in the car.
But what I really want to do is
get back to writing and creating my paperdolls.
We sometimes seem to get side tracked
when we really need to focus on what we
love to do.
And once the flow gets going we just can’t stop.
And after I’m done writing for a little bit,
I need to take a break and work on my
new line of Gothic Girl paperdolls.
Gonna be creepy!
So keep on plugging,
we’ll get there someday.
