As I walk along the river

I watch in wonder as she flows

Up against my Kentucky land

As my Kentucky wind, gently blows.

So I sit and write of her beauty

I sit and write as I hold her hand

As Kentucky is my happiness

Kentucky, is this man.

Kentucky is my wonders

Kentucky is my dreams

Kentucky is my bluegrass

Kentucky is my trees.

Kentucky is the horses

Kentucky is the lakes

Kentucky is the people
