Or so it seems!
Sometimes it feels
Like I have a kitty daycare
For no matter how many times I pick up toys
Very soon they’re again scattered everywhere.
The couch must be moved
At least twice a day
For although they have hundreds of toys it seems
Underneath the couch, hides the ones they Need to play.
And how many times must the vacuum come out
Always seeming a waste of time
For litter trails start at all the boxes
As in and out so many times they climb.
As it seems, for my kitty daycare
That I have a sandbox or two
As they get in there and dig, dig, dig
And although I know that’s what they’re supposed to do.
You’ve really gotta wonder
What are they really trying to achieve
Are they really just trying to cover up their mess
Or tunneling to China as I sometimes believe.
In any event they can’t then just step out of the box
When their chores or playtime is through
They have to get like, a running start
Jumping out, taking litter with them as they do.
Then what about getting into things
I cannot leave anything out
For then if I need it later
I’d have to search for it without doubt.
And an empty bag or an empty box
Never immediately gets put away
For boxes and bags although they’re free
Are some of the best items for hours of play.
But the toys they’re really worst of all
For they’re everywhere I look
Though as I start to pick them up
Some will be snagged as if by crook.
And I can’t forget to mention the snack-time chows
As there are seven dishes in a row
Always each filled with a different flavor
To keep them all happy and help them grow.
Then water bowls, I have two large ones
Fresh water 3 or 4 times a day at least
And then a favorite time, Din Din time morning and night
With dinner dishes of glass lined up for their feast.
I love to feed them then just watch them as they eat
I sit amongst them as they dine
Feeling somewhat like a monitor
At a little, school lunch line.
But then unlike at a daycare center
They all clean themselves quite well
Then all around their bodies lie
Enjoying nap-times for a spell.
Then at the end of the day
We’re still all alone
Just my 7 cats and I
In our happy little, kitty day care home.
