A damsel in distress named Lady Claire. And the knight who loved her.

Early morning light glistened on the knight
sitting high up on his proud young steed.
His armour pristine his livery bold and clear
watching from a safe point the towering keep.
Here to rescue his true love without fear
passion running through him feelings deep.

The morn was crisp a chill was in the air
adrenaline gave him the internal strength.
His horses muscles bulged ready for the fray
before the cock crowd he stealthily moved near.
His army placed around poised for the interplay
a plan now going into first mode his mind clear.

Word smuggled into his anxious Lady claire
with fear and emotion wanting to be with her man.
Safe from the evil Barron a friend of her mother
closer to the castle hoping no sentrys could see.
Lady Claire crept quietly on her soft tiny feet
afraid she would be caught before she was free.

The hour was right the moment had arrived
down on the ground the knight was alert.
Moving with speed to a small rear doorway
it was lucky there was no water filled moat.
Then bolts clanged the door opened to display
his Lady running then the Barron with flowing coat.

Shouting and swinging a sword in his podgy hand
archers appeared at the battlements high above.
From nowhere soldiers came from nearby trees
in seconds shields protected his Lady from harm.
A horse was brought to her side safely she flees
her Knight then in battle thrusting with his sword arm.

The barron showed no mercy raining down blows
onto the knights battered shield with deadly force.
A whoosh as a wave of arrows the bowman unleash
sparks fly they fight like demons with a violent reaction.
But the Knight had more hate and was a younger man
the time had come for destiny and terminal action.
His energy sapped his sword pierced the Barrons heart
like the wind he sped away to be with his Lady for a new start.

There is something exciting about that time in history, when knights of the round table fought for shivalry. And the honour of their Ladies, out to fight the foe and save their damsels in distress. I doubt it was anything like this romantic notion. But it does fire up the imagination for me.
